Role of Technology in the classroom

This was an interesting website about how important it is for our students to learn to use computers in the classroom. Use of computers is not an extra option today, it is a necessity to prepare out students to be able to compete in the global world.

It talks about what is holding classrooms back from teaching the necessary computer skills in the classroom. The costs are the main reason that we do not have the technology available for all schools and this is a growing concern.

We need to get our students ready to be able to leave school and be prepared to work in the golbal society. We need to advocate the importance of the importance of technology in our classrooms to the public and government.

This is a really great site for kids. It has great games, cool sites, kid quest, there is a spot for questions, and lots of educational information. The 4 kids.org is a team that consists of research technologists, students, teachers and writers that write a weekly newspaper and maintain the website.

National Geographic

This is a great site that is very educational and fun for students to use. I was playing (well trying to play) some of the cool games. There are videos , activities, and a lot of great factual information for the student as a resource.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas....

Well with all the snow that we received, it slowed a lot of us down! It has given me some much needed time that I can use to get caught up with my technology assignments. I am enjoying this class and really learning some quality information that will definitely be useful in my future!!

The 'researching the Internet' assignment took a long time but really helped me to learn some new sites that I did not know was out there. I explored each of them to some extent and definitely know which ones I really like and am going to explore even more!!

I think learning the Internet is very important for young learners to get them ready to be able to compete globally when they get older. There are a lot of people yet who do not understand the Internet and are petrified of it so they do not utilize it like the are able. When I took over my job last summer, I had just convinced the old director to use the computer for more than making lists and letters for the parents let alone hooking up to the Internet. She was very afraid of the Internet because she did not know how to use it and only heard horror stories about how your personal information can be stolen.

Tis the Season to go shopping...don't you don't even even have to leave home

I was at the Walmart in Oshkosh where the women were fighting over the items that they wanted on Nov. 23rd. It was ludicrous! Didn't the women know that they could have turned on their computer and bought whatever they wanted with no pushing and shoving? In today's world of technology, you can find virtually everything on the web. I google all the time when I have a question.

How technology can be incorporated in Pre K

I am really enjoying our computer class and when I learn something new....I can't wait to share it.
It is a little daunting to know that I am learning what thrid graders are learning but 'better late than never.'
Our students need to know how to use technology to be able to excel in their education. It is never too early to get the children interested in using the computer and teaching them how to use it correctly. Safety is one of the biggest concerns for children on the internet. I have had some instances myself where I have went to a sight expecting to view one thing and being shocked by what was really on the site.

Children absorb information at an early age and with regular exposure they learn to remember what they have learned.

The internet is changing rapidly and while something may be up and running today, it may be gone tomorrow so users needs to be actively learning how to search the internet for valuable, accurate information daily.

Holidays are coming!!

Can you believe it, Thanksgiving is just around the corner!! With all the hustle and bustle, let us not forget to give thanks for what we have during this time!!
Christmas is real soon, it is my favorite time of the year because of all the color!
Speaking of color, I decided to give myself a boost and had my hair done on an impulse. I was surprised that my husband liked the color!! He did not like the back of my head where the hair is styled in a messy type of style though. He said that it looked like I had bed head!!
